The newest YouTube sensastion is a veritable microcosm of Web 2.0 at work. Friday afternoon, DePaul freshman Ashley Gorson and her friend Brad Ettson uploaded the video they'd made in under a day.

Entitled "Ryan Started the Fire", this video is every Office fan's dream. Borrowing a brief refence from the season 2 episode "The Fire", the two self-described "die-hard Office fans" re-worked the lyrics to Billy Joel's "We Didn't Start the Fire" so that every line was about the popular NBC comedy The Office. "The lyrics were harder to compile", Gorson says, "we had to follow the 'Billy Joel' rhyme scheme, which was the most challenging part of the entire process.

By Sunday afternoon, Office star Jenna Fischer (Pam Beesley) had posted a link to the video on her MySpace blog, stating "The cast has been forwarding it around. We all love it! So cool!". And if that weren't enough, Rainn Wilson (Dwight Schrute) posted a link on his Twitter and said, "One of the best office 'fan' videos ever. Litrly hours spent coming up with William Joel rhyme schemes." It seems this was a strong enough endorsement for savvy surfers, as the video has garnered well 30,000 views (29,950 of which were NOT me) as of this writing.

I've seen a great number of fan-created Office videos over the past few years, and I can confidently say that this is my #1 Desert-Island All-Time Favorite. It's very well-made, and anyone who considers themselves an Office fan can check it out right here.
